6/5/2009 CrossFit WOD Deadlifts

Well today a Deadlift 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 was posted I seriously have been neglecting my deadlifts so this was good timing.

Did a warmup and decided to go for broke on a couple of exercises with single set maxes.


Joint warmup
Hand stand pu: 12
Pullups : 42 (MAX) I was on a very shitty pullup bar if it was straight I would have definately gotten more.
Dips: 35 (MAX) weak effort it was right after the pullups
GHD situp: 27
Back ext: 30
Air squats: 30 (real fast)


Then I started the deadlifts

225x2
315x3
365x1
405x1
405x1
425x1 (this was brutal and ugly but I did it)
315x5
315x4

Front squats 135x20

The dead lift is incredible. I need to do them every week. It felt really solid, I love the existential feel of the deadlift, the singularity and focus required to execute the lift properly is maddening. I love getting amped up and locking it out. It is just incredible. There is a lesson in the deadlift, a lesson of commitment and overcoming obstacles.

I have a fear/love/hate relationship with them but it is mostly a love love thing. I had to hold back a little bit since it has been so long since I did heavy dead lifts. The big problem with dead lifts is I am just totally drained right now. I am going to have to let this sink in to see if I can handle another workout today. I am supposed to do CFE tonight, the order just might be too tall for me to fill.
